Kerry Goes Green

by Jonathan H. Adler

In an interview with Grist, available here, Senator John Kerry calls Bush’s environmental performance the “worst record in modern history.” Kerry accuses the administration of “an unbelievable series of backward-moving measures,” a charge I debunked here. Of note, Kerry takes credit for rewriting the nation’s fisheries law, yet there is a widespread consensus that the federal fishery law has utterly failed to conserve fisheries. In addition, while highly critical of the President’s position on global warming, Kerry says he would not submit the Kyoto Protocol to the Senate in its current form.
