Last September, I wrote a NRO article criticizing the legal strategy in the litigation over the Morton Grove handgun ban, in the early 1980s. Although I contacted several people who were involved in the litigation, and who had personal knowledge of the case, I made a serious error in judgement by failing to contact Victor Quilici, the attorney whose strategy my article criticized. Mr. Quilici has written a response
to my article, which provides a different perspective events in Morton Grove, and which I should have included in my original article. Another response
has been written by Robert Kukla, who has served as Executive Director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. Mr. Kukla support’s Mr. Quilici’s recollection of the Morton Grove history. I urge all readers of my original article (and anyone else interested in the history of the Morton Grove cases) to read what Mr. Quilici and Mr. Kukla have to say.
