Premier Care

As noted earlier here, the Newfoundland premier has now decided to come to the United States for heart surgery. As Canada’s National Post reports, “Mr. [Danny] Williams’ decision to leave Canada for the surgery has raised eyebrows over his apparent shunning of Canada’s health-care system.” You think?    The report continues, “‘It was never an option offered to him to have this procedure done in this province,’ said [Deputy Premier Kathy] Dunderdale, refusing to answer whether the procedure could be done elsewhere in Canada.”    One must ask: Which would be worse? – having the procedure not even be offered anywhere else in the country, or having such a prominent public official choose to flee to American doctors, regardless?   When was the last time you heard of an Obamacare-supporting senator, representative, or administration official heading to Canada for a major medical procedure?
