Abortion Vote (Maybe) To Come Today

Text

From the AP:

The U.S. Senate could take up today an amendment restricting abortion coverage in the health care reform bill, complicating its already tricky path toward final passage.

The amendment — written by Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson and replicating that authored by Michigan’s Bart Stupak in the House — appears to have little chance in the Senate, where it has to win a 60-vote majority.

Even Stupak, a Menominee Democrat who succeeded in getting the provision attached to the House’s version of the bill, acknowledged it would be a “tight vote” and he didn’t expect the amendment to survive in the Senate.

More on Stupak here.
