Do-Something Congress?
In addition, the House GOP appears committed to citing Attorney General
Janet Reno for contempt for refusing to comply with a committee subpoena
for Charles La Bella's memorandum recommending an independent counsel.
New information on Gore's questionable fundraising practices makes the
case against him even more compelling, and puts Reno into an even
tighter corner. Reno's expected ploy to launch a 90-day inquiry into
whether an independent counsel is needed--another delaying
tactic--doesn't appear to be winning any plaudits.
