Hoyer: Abortion A 'Small Facet' Of Pelosi's Bill [Robert Costa]
As the House Democrats continue to meet to try and cobble together a health-care bill that can pass, House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D., Md.) says that he is "feeling tired." "We're still working," he says. "We're making progress but we're not there yet... We had a long meeting... Everyone is going to talk to the others they need to." The "others" he was alluding to are the bishops said to be a key part of the internal Democratic debate between pro-life and pro-choice members. Hoyer left the deliberations for a bit, only to return. When I asked him about whether President Obama can do anything to solve the abortion divide in the Democratic caucus, Hoyer said that Obama should instead "talk about the substance of the bill" and that abortion was a "small facet."
