‘Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey’ Good for Liberal and Conservative Families

In spite of the fact that Whoopi Goldberg was the narrator, I watched a documentary yesterday called Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey.

I know many of you aren’t Sesame Street fans, but who doesn’t love red, furry, huggable Elmo? After all, he’s an international hero to millions of children — and remember in 1996 when the Tickle Me Elmo doll started shopping mall riots that would’ve made Rodney King shudder?

This is the story of the soft-spoken puppeteer, Kevin Clash, who gave him life. Rarely are movies suitable for all ages, but this one delighted our 4, 11, 13, 37, and 43-year-old family members. It also challenged me a bit as a parent.
