What began as a protest against a hike in bus-ticket prices in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has grown into a nationwide series of protests against corruption in the federal government and over national economic policies. Clashes between protesters and police continued on June 17. Here‘s a look.
Protesters in various cities have demanded public funds be spent on much-needed infrastructure and services instead of supporting high-profile sporting events such as next year‘s World Cup tournament. Pictured, waving the flag in Rio de Janeiro.

Thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts descended on Rome over the weekend as part of a celebration of the company‘s 110th anniversary. While in town the bikers took in the sights, paraded past the Colosseum, and even received a blessing from Pope Francis.
Harleys lined the Via della Conciliazione near St. Peter‘s Basilica on June 16 to catch a glimpse of the pope.
Harley models of all shapes and sizes proudly displayed souvenirs of their Vatican visit.
While in town, riders took in the Vatican sights.
On June 15, the bikers took part in a parade past the Roman Colosseum and other landmarks in Rome.

Medieval reenactors donned shiny armor and all the trappings to stage a jousting competition at Eltham Palace and Gardens in Greenwich, England, on June 16. The Grand Medieval Joust event was held at the childhood home of King Henry VIII, and recreated the pageantry of medieval England with games, music, and dance. Here‘s a look.
