Kathryn noticed, and posted in the Corner, the news that the home page of Catholics for Kerry 04 prominently lists comments by Wayne Madsden, who said, “George W. Bush’s blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs and his constant references to ‘evil doers,’ in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelations—the anti-Christ.”

Have we reached a new point in negative campaigning? Hitler wasn’t a bad enough comparison, now we accuse the other guy of being Satan? Just what else is left at that point?

Plus, once you make that charge, doesn’t everything else kind of pale in comparison?

“The case is clear that my opponent is the embodiment of evil, the source of all sin and misery in all of creation, and seeks to destroy the world and everyone in it, damning us all to an eternity of everlasting torment . Plus, you know, I don’t like his tax plan.” (Hat tip to Ramesh and Jonah, who made comments in this vein in another context during convention week.)
