SPECIAL “GOOD NEWS FOR KERRY” SUMMARY
Maybe the Kerry Spot has been a little tough on the Democratic candidate lately. Sure, he’s been through a heck of a rough patch. Sure, the Sauronic Big Eye of CBS is on the verge of being toppled by the Pajamahadeen. Okay, so his approval rating is exactly one point higher than Joe McCarthy’s in 1954.
But not everything is going wrong for him.
Investor’s Business Daily has unveiled a new poll showing Bush and Kerry tied at 47 each.
The editors of the Washington Post praised Kerry as the better choice to handle the budget deficit, apparently because of his promise to use the magic incantation, “Bob Rubin, Bob Rubin, Bob Rubin.”
The most frequently televised 9/11 widows have endorsed him, and that sounds like a perfect material for an ad targeting soccer moms.
And by relentlessly talking about (yawn) Medicare, he has at least a shot of getting some traditional Democratic issues back in the headlines.
Of course, Paul Begala is complaining on CNN that the candidate isn’t listening to him. And Roll Call analyst Stuart Rothenberg is saying the outlook for Democrats has "suddenly darkened just about everywhere."
