AN AWFULLY HONEST OPINION
Vanity Fair's James Wolcott: "I have no interest in listening to a Chris Matthews panel speculate on who might replace this or that person in the cabinet, as if they were engaging in Rotisserie League baseball. I assume whomever Bush picks will have horns, cloven feet, and a connection to an oil company, so who cares what name the minion goes by?"
Apparently while I was gone, Wolcott also called Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, "a racist-t-shirt-wearing professor of Creationism at Wayback University."
It's a free country, and Wolcott can call anybody whatever names he wants, but if you want a distilled essence of why Democrats are so disdained in the red states, and anyplace not called Manhattan, Berkeley, Beverly Hills or Nantucket, he’s a perfect example. The New York elites are basically flipping the bird at anybody who disagrees with them, no longer even bothering to try to persuade others. Ken Mehlman, Bill Frist, and Tom Delay must be high-fiving every time they read words like this, and hoping that this attitude continues through the 2006 elections. If the left keeps spitting on Libertarian-ish guys like Instapundit instead of trying to appeal to them, they will never win another consequential election.
