CONSENSUS ON HOWARD DEAN
Instapundit noticed this odd phenomenon of consensus among the left and the right for Howard Dean to be the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
This will be an interesting litmus test of the post-Election Day Democratic party. Do enough DNC members say, ‘hey, the Republicans are begging for us to make Mr. YEAAAARGH one of our high-profile faces for the next few years. Electing Dean to this post would be a serious mistake, let’s pick somebody else.”
Or will enough DNC members say, “The red states don’t like Howard Dean? To hell with them! Let’s stick it in their eye and give a voice to the Democratic wing of the Democratic party!”
The Washington Post did a good wrapup of the likely DNC Chair candidates this weekend. Most surprising are the folks who have bowed out of running: Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, Former labor secretary Alexis M. Herman, Donna Brazile, who was campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000.
Of course, it would be the perfect job for… Bill Clinton.
