ames A. Swan, a writer, actor, and producer, is the outdoor writer for NRO. He is the author of six books, including In Defense of Hunting (Harper Collins, 1995), and is the “Media Watch” columnist for North American Hunter magazine.

Swan is a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild and AFTRA, and has appeared in films including BiCentennial Man, Star Trek: First Contact, Murder in the First, and Angels in the Outfield. He also appeared in four episodes of television’s Nash Bridges as a police officer.

For many years, he has been a college professor and lecturer, having served at the University of Michigan, Univeristy of Oregon, University of Washington, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and other institutions.

Swan is a full member of the ASCAP, and has been a rhythm guitarist, percussionist, and vocalist in the genres of folk, country, and rock since the 1960s.

Swan received a B.S. in conservation education from the University of Michigan.
