The New Yorker Profiles Jill Abramson

This week’s issue of The New Yorker provides an in-depth profile of the New York Times’s new executive editor, Jill Abramson. It offers both the positive and negative sentiments she has raised during her time as the Times’s Washington bureau chief and managing editor.

The piece also offers a brief confirmation of the sentiments Abramson expressed in the Times when chosen for the job in June:

In my house growing up, The Times substituted for religion. If the Times said it, it was the absolute truth.

Her comments were, not long after publication, removed from the Times website.
