Rep. Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) is readying her next move in a months-long effort to slash Pentagon spending for NASCAR and other sports sponsorships.
McCollum questions whether the U.S. military should be spending hundreds of millions of dollars on sponsorship deals for sports including stock car racing, professional fishing and pro wrestling at a time when the nation is running large deficits. Military officials and congressional supporters say the sponsorships help with recruitment.
So, which is it? Are Dems for or against stock-car racing? Besides uber-fan Michelle, of course. . .
Outrage, accompanied by whining and finger-pointing, is a staple of the left. They claimed it was their First Amendment right to express their displeasure with President Bush - not to mention entertaining - and that it was appropriate and not at all disrespectful to boo at him, accuse him of criminal activity, hang and burn him in effigy and hurl sundry items at him. Our First Lady hasn't always been respectful to the American people - remember her "mean" comment - so she shouldn't expect that we will always be respectful to her. Respect is earned, not deserved.
This is nothing compared to the Russkies outright flipping off Obama. And this is nowhere near the abject disrespect that Jimmie Fallon showed his guest, Michelle Bachmann. I won't post individual links, but the link below takes you to Hot Air. You can't miss the post about Bachmann.
The Left has always been penny ante. They will take a penny ante event, generalize it and use it to call for more scrutiny and government regulation. It's high time we begin to ignore them and their jar of antes.
Oh please. Nascar fans are nothing but gun slinging, black hating white trash. It's no big shocker that they booed the first lady. Maybe if Michelle was chewing Skol and shooting deer they would have cheered for her.
bernzie, I agree wholeheartedly. But it's spelled "Skoal." Us hicks are 'ticular 'bout that. And the fact that if your highest values are killing babies in their mothers' wombs and sticking private parts up your poop chute, we'll stick with being "white trash." Thank you very much.
I listened to that tape again. You may hear a very faint, very brief rumble of disapproval, as in something that took place for half of a second by 2% of the crowd. But that hardly qualifies as being booed at a NASCAR event.
(Go to Madison Square Garden when the Flyers are in town if you want to hear being booed is.)
I truly believe that the White House is hyping this up, so that they can portray themselves as victims.
President Obama's entire political life has been based on "Fighting the Man." Pity that it took so many people so long to figure out that this doesn't prepare you to "Be the Man."
COnnor12!@, Agreed, but it's more like "No Class Warfare" and Obama's team isn't "reduced" to it. Obama always ran with a willing Press smearing opponents from his first primaries onward here in the bankrupt state of IL and the home of clean politics, the city of passing wind. The good thing is, God willing, he'll be alive a long time and while he expects to be lionized it's just as likely he'll become Jimmy Carter II in retirement as well -- a laughing stock except when third world leaders like Ghaddafi need a photo op.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseRespect is is a two way street and the Obama's have shown none to the American public. I can't even imagine why this would be a surprise.........
Let the mainstream media make whatever they want of this....... they are simply irrelevant.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI love the way liberals go about demonstrating both their lack of intelligence and their lack of tolerance at the same time.
