Keith Olbermann Feuding with Current TV Execs

Keith Olbermann is already fighting with the executives at Current TV:

Mr. Olbermann, who was hired last year to be the top star of the upstart liberal news source, had been on the job scarcely three months when trouble started. He declined Current’s requests to host special hours of election coverage, apparently out of frustration about technical difficulties that have plagued his 8 p.m. program, “Countdown.”

The channel decided to produce election shows without him. Mr. Olbermann, however, said he did not know that, and on Tuesday, the day of the Iowa caucus, the cold war of sorts reached a flash point. He held a staff meeting even though “Countdown” had been pre-empted.

Perceiving it to be an act of defiance, David Bohrman, Current’s president, wrote a memo to Mr. Olbermann’s staff telling them that the anchor had long ago given up the opportunity to anchor on election nights. “We assumed,” he wrote, that “Keith had communicated to you.”

He’s forced his way out of Fox, MSNBC, and ESPN. Could Current TV be next?

I love this line in the "Times" story: Current, which has occupied a lonely position on the cable dial for years, is investing in programming to become a liberal alternative to MSNBC and other cable news channels.

Liberal alternative to MSNBC?

FOX hired / fired this bloviating alumnus of the Columbia School of Agriculture? Didn't know that. He was kind of amusing on ESPN. (Now, nothing is amusing at ESPN. It's the MSNBC of sports broadcasting.)

Maybe he's on his way to the KOlb Channel... Good luck selling advertising!! Maybe defibrillator manufacturers, psychiatrists specializing in anger management, shamans, blood pressure control medicines from Big Pharma, Public-Sector Unions ("Look for... the union label... on your next drivers license or tax return...")

I'm just spit balling here, having spent 20 years selling advertising time for local TV stations.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled rant.

Keith's best days are far behind him, and frankly they weren't all that great. With the personality of a cactus, and the outlook of a 2012 Mayan, who needs him? Perhaps he could go the theaters that PeeWee Herman frequents and occasionally scream fire?

Obama might need another Teleprompter technician.

Particularly now that he is "officially" campaigning and can't use the one we all pay for as blatantly as he has for the past 6 months.

Just resist the temptation, Keith, to jump up and grandstand. Hmmm. I guess the odds of him getting hired for the post are low...'
...hey, try the Romney campaign!
