How Young is Too Young for the Cover of Cosmopolitian?

Cosmopolitan is taking some heat for putting 17-year-old Dakota Fanning on its latest cover. Um, yeah, maybe having a minor next to these headlines is a little over-the-top:

Contemptible, but hasn't Cosmopolitan always been so? The morons who read this rag deserve it. Cordially, Bill

Definitely too young but

She's 17 already?!?!?!?!?!? I feel old!

This is one of those situations that bright-line rules were made for. She shouldn't be on the cover until she is 18 - not a moment before.

"Um, yeah, maybe having a minor next to these headlines is a little over-the-top"

I think the age of consent is mostly 16 and 17 in this country, so those headlines are pretty meaningless. Besides, anyone who's seen "The Runaways" probably thinks that magazine cover to be the opposite of risqué (at least as far as Dakota is concerned).

what is the proper age to be on the cover of a magazine that reads like a prostitute's handbook?

I suppose that cover is intended to attract purchasers. Good Lord In Heaven!
I'm glad I don't have to encounter _that_ in a dark alley!

Ever since Helen Gurley Brown took over Cosmopolitan way back...it has been a worthless piece of trash magazine. I would hope that any young model or actress would not want to be associated and identified with this garbage.

17 is like 42 in Hollywood.
