Sen. Levin Calls for Armed Forces Radio to Drop Rush
Senator Carl Levin, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, has called for Rush Limbaugh to be dropped from the Armed Forces Network.
“I would hope the people that run it see just how offensive this is and drop it on their own volition.”
But he admits that Congress shouldn’t actually legislate this change:
“I think that is probably an issue that should be left to the folks that run that network,” he said. “In other words, I’d love to see them drop it but I don’t think I’d legislate it.”
This isn’t the first time that there have been calls for Rush to be removed from the Armed Forces radio. In 2004, Media Matters and other Democrats demanded that he be pulled over comments comparing Abu Ghraib to initiation at Yale’s secret society Skull and Bones. He survived in 2004, and in all likelihood will weather this storm as well.
