Race-Baiting at the HuffPo

I find it so hilarious that somewhere some people are reading Sam Stein’s post on this New York Post political cartoon and nodding in thoughtful agreement with passages like this:

At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. Others believe it compares the president to a rabid chimp. Either way, the incorporation of violence and (on a darker level) race into politics is bound to be controversial. Perhaps that’s what Delonas wanted. [emp. added]

“Either way”? That doesn’t even make sense. Taking the “most benign” view, the cartoon had nothing to do with race and violence. Unless you’re a crazy person, and every chimp represents a black man, and every campaign ad criticizing a black politician is full of coded racial innuendo, and if you don’t support Barack Obama you’re a racist.

These people are totally nuts. And yes, by “these people,” I mean “people like Sam Stein.”
