Great Moments in Journalism: Michelle Obama’s Posterior Edition

Talk about a race to the bottom:

Finally, a first lady with a booty like mine

What is the word for whatever doesn’t quite rise to the level of trivia? Seriously, Salon is punching above its weight with this kind of journalism — usually one has to turn to public radio or something otherwise federally subsidized for an item this embarrassing. Excerpt:

But what really thrills me, what really feels liberating in a very personal way, is the official new prominence of Michelle Obama. Barack’s better half not only has stature but is statuesque. She has corruscating [SIC] intelligence, beauty, style and — drumroll, please — a butt. (Yes, you read that right: I’m going to talk about the first lady’s butt.)

Free at last, &c.

Note to Erin Aubry Kaplan: Nine-dollar words such as coruscating are more impressive when you spell them correctly.
