Great Moments in Journalistic Self-Regard: Oxford Edition

This is a pretty cute report from Wired about the ten most annoying expressions in contemporary English, as catalogued by Oxford language scholars. The expressions are:

1 – At the end of the day
2 – Fairly unique
3 – I personally
4 – At this moment in time
5 – With all due respect
6 – Absolutely
7 – It’s a nightmare
8 – Shouldn’t of
9 – 24/7
10 – It’s not rocket science

But get this from the end of the report:

As for this Oxford-educated reporter (that’s my scarf over there) ….

Yes, Mr. John Scott Lewinski of Wired is precisely that eager to let you know, apropos of basically nothing, that he studied at Oxford. Does he include a photo of his Exeter College scarf? Yes, he does:

In his defense (and, at the end of the day, with all due respect, irregardless of my own personal feelings at this moment in time) I suppose the spire-spiked Oxford skyline isn’t the first image that comes to mind when one hears the name Lewinski.
