New Imus Same As The Old Imus

I caught about 10 minutes of the new Imus show on ABC radio this morning.  Literally, the first thing I heard was a voice I did not recognize shouting, “No more midgets!  No more midgets!”

It turned out they were discussing whether the proper term to use is “midget” or “little person” in regard to this story of Paris Hilton saving someone dressed up as an Oompa-Loompa.

Imus was criticized by his new sidekick, the black/Jewish/woman/Texan/New Yorker, for using the word “midget.”  The new sidekick went on to suggest Paris Hilton could carry the little person she saved around in her purse to give her dog a break on the club scene.  The sidekick was careful not to use “midget” and used “m-word” instead.  She defended her purse comment with, “it’s not what you say, but how you say it.”

And the best part, the next guest was Frank Rich from the NY Times.  The last thing I heard before parking my car was Rich and Imus discussing how ”crazy” Mike Huckabee might because he’s Christian.  Same old Imus.
