Obama Hype

Text

I’ve been trying to decide what to say about the Obama-hype that’s swept the mainstream media. On the one hand, it does seem egregious given that the presidential election is almost two years away and he hasn’t even declared his candidacy yet. On the other hand, the infatuation goes beyond the mainstream media: Stories about Obama have hit the top of the Memeorandum rankings several times since the elections, meaning that bloggers are just as fascinated by his recent intimations.

Media-driven hype or genuine public interest a uniquely interesting politician? I’m not sure. For now I’ll just link to Larry Kudlow’s much-needed summary of his voting record. The mainstream media so far have dwelled more on the presidential candidate he might be than on the senator he has been.
