More Aid is Not the Answer

There’s been so much talk here in Hong Kong about increased aid to least developed countries, Paul Theroux’s excellent essay in the New York Times — about why more aid is the last thing these countries need — comes just at the right time.

Tim Harford in the International Herald Tribune suggests that rather than increased aid or even reduced trade barriers in the developed world, the least developed countries need to take a look at how their own onerous policies hold back their exporters.
