A quick litmus test for the overall appeal of the movie: I told my boys the DVD was out, and their heads barely moved. The older one liked the movie in the theater, but it seems to have had little resonance or staying power. Meanwhile, they eagerly devoured King Kong on DVD. I had expected a lot of fast forwarding during the slowish first hour, but they watched every second. (We did skip the too-intense too-gooey bug sequence later on.) Myself, I thought “Narnia” was handsomely made but ultimately kind of forgettable — this, however, lives on.
