Sorry, I’m just now reading your comments on my post about farm subsidies, and I’m afraid my writing was a bit unclear. The “he” in “he was all for it” was meant to be George W. Bush, who didn’t seem to have big objections to a bad farm bill when Republicans controlled the congress, not Mr. Levin who I assumed was against the bill, as were most intellectuals and policy people across the spectrum. Apologies for the confusion, I’m going to do a followup post on my blog.
That was certainly very hard to discern from the way his post was written, but this makes sense and does clear it up. Complaint withdrawn.
