Abdollah Ramazanzadeh, spokesman of Khatami’s government at a student meeting in Isfahan: “[The judiciary] has looked through the public speeches of Hadi Qabel [secretary of reformist faction] over the past 16 years and has identified 16 incidents [in which he crosses the red lines of the regime]. For this he is condemned to three years of imprisonment.”
Ramazanzadeh continued: “You can bail out a person convicted of espionage with 100 million tomans [reference to former nuclear negotiator Mousavian], but a simple university student is sentenced to five years imprisonment. Why?”
He concluded: “They believe in an-nasr be ar-ru’b [Victory through the reign of terror].
Kayhan, mouthpiece of Supreme Leader, criticizes Rafsanjani for warning of a ”dangers” and also attacks arrested female Iranian journalist Hosseinkhah, which it accuses of espionage for the United States.
Culture and Society
Isma’il Ahmadi Moghaddam, chief of Law Enforcement Forces in Iran: “We do not have mobile phone police in this country… No mobile phone is tapped… No police employee is allowed to check the mobile phone of Iranian citizens.”
Hossein Zolfaghari, deputy commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces: “Due to delicacy of the operations, specially trained forces will be used in the fight against those breaking the norms in the society… especially women who do not abide with Islamic norms of dressing.”
Iran’s Minister of Islamic Guidance and Culture: “I like music, and I do not oppose rap music…But I strongly oppose delusional musical genres such as heavy metal.”

Ahmadinejad at press conference with Hugo Chavez: “Peoples of Iran and Venezuela will stand shoulder to shoulder with the disadvantaged nations of the world in spite of opposition of ’World Imperialism’ [The U.S.].”
Chavez adds: “The Dollar Empire of the United States is collapsing… I have nuclear material in my pockets. If I see imperialists on my way, I’ll launch it at them.”
After Chavez’s departure, Ahmadinejad says: “Iran and Venezuela are contemplating extensive plans for promotion of peace in the world.”
