Following Jonathan Adler’s link, I read his explanation regarding pseudonymous blogging, which took the position that ”Adopting a pseudonym is not necessarily a cowardly or sinister act.”
I read the rest of his well-written post, and, when I came to the end, I still couldn’t figure out how Mr. Adler could possibly make that statement in the context of political blogs. Writing under the name of George Eliot when you’re a woman in the 19th century, yes. I can understand that. But when expressing political opinions and criticizing others? Under those circumstances, writing something while trying to conceal who you are is not necessarily sinister. It is necessarily cowardly.
