From a reader:
I’m currently finishing your book so I thought this might interest you. I live in Toledo, Ohio, and Obama is rumored to be coming to the area for a four-day stretch at a local state-park lodge. Today’s Toledo Blade has a signed statement by the editor in chief on the first page asking Obama whether he would agree with FDR’s “Second Bills of Rights” guaranteeing “the right to a job, the right to a decent home, the right to adequate medical care, and the right to a good education” If you go to toldeoblade.com you will be treated to the signed statement as a pop-up along with a link to the audio and transcript of FDR proposing it. The Blade obviously thinks this is a swell idea and the letter is accompanied by a front page article discussing it, claiming “many” believe these ideas should be invoked, including Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). The article states that an answer from Obama to whether he supports the idea is important to all Americans. I agree but I suspect for a reason different than the Blade’s. And McCain doesn’t think we have anything to fear from an Obama presidency?
I assume the reader’s talking about this.
