I’m told Congressman Roy Blunt, currently running for Kit Bond’s Senate seat, told a radio program this morning that he would vote against Elena Kagan’s nomination to replace Justice John Paul Stevens.
If President Obama’s approval rating is as good in Missouri as it is elsewhere, I don’t see a downside to his coming out against Kagan. Especially as Kagan’s positions on gun rights, military issues, and Obamacare become clearer.
Obama is looking to place on the Supreme Court a rubber stamp for his agenda from health care to cap-and-tax.
I think Roy Blunt will be the first of many GOP senate candidates across the nation to voice opposition to Kagan. Who will follow? Rubio, Portman, Coats, Boozman, Toomey, Fiorina, and Rossi?
