One small bright spot could be looming for California Republicans. On the morning after the election, liberal Democrat Kamala Harris had a thin lead over Republican Steve Cooley in the race for attorney general. As of Friday night, however, the lead had shifted back to Cooley, albeit narrowly. By Sunday, he led by about 37,000 votes, or one-half of one percent of the total. Of the 2.3 million yet-uncounted provisional and postal ballots, 52 percent come from counties where Cooley is ahead. The outcome remains uncertain, but it is clear that Cooley could still win.
