Speaking to the press just now, Donald Trump said he was “really happy” that President Obama had released the long-form birth certificate, but stated that he expected that he and others would need to examine the released certificate.
“I hope it’s true. He should have done it a long time ago,” said Trump. “I hope it checks out beautifully.”
Talking about reaction to the birth certificate, Trump said people would “have to make a decision” about its authenticity and remarked that it was “amazing” that it had now been released.
Trump said he hoped that the release of the birth certificate would allow people to talk about more important issues, like gas prices and China.
He also said he was “really proud” and “really honored” that he had been able to “do something nobody else had been able to do.”
