A few thoughts on Superman’s renunciation of his U.S. citizenship:
Who cares? No one reads comic books anymore anyway.
Last year I read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and the contrast between the novel’s depiction of comic-book superheroes battling the fascists during WWII and the current Superman who “appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime” is hilarious.
If he doesn’t have another citizenship somewhere else then he’s an illegal alien wherever he is in the world.
Along those lines, my colleague Jerry Kammer notes a Mexican corrido ballad entitled “Superman Es Ilegal.”
