Perry's Va. Ballot Suit Joined by Gingrich, Huntsman, Santorum (But Not Bachmann)
Hans A. von Spakovsky
Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, and Rick Santorum have just filed a motion to intervene in Perry v. Virginia State Board of Elections and Republican Party of Virginia, the lawsuit filed in federal district court in Richmond by Gov. Rick Perry claiming that the state’s ballot-access rules are unconstitutional. According to a prior letter that was sent to the defendants on Dec. 31, Michele Bachmann was also going to be part of this intervention. But her name is not on the joint motion to intervene filed today, no doubt due to her announcement this morning that she is suspending her campaign. So Gingrich, Huntsman, and Santorum are joining the legal effort started by Perry to get onto the Virginia Republican-primary ballot.
