Silver Lining in the President’s Marriage Evolution?
William C. Duncan
A possible benefit of the president’s recent “evolution” to supporting same-sex marriage (the next step will almost surely be an evolution away from the federalist solution to favoring a same-sex marriage mandate for the entire nation) is that it seems to be spurring some serious discussion about what marriage is. A friend brought this sermon from a Catholic priest in Duluth, Ga., Father Augustine Tran, to my attention.
Maggie Gallagher has also made a superb case for marriage in her new book from Oxford University Press, Debating Same-Sex Marriage. The Institute for American Values will be hosting a discussion on the book on Thursday night which will be streamed online.
