Before Jack Fowler starts flacking the next NR cruise, scheduled for August, I wanted Corner readers to know about a similar Center for Immigration Studies outing in February. Well, okay, it’s not really a cruise, there’s no all-you-can-eat shrimp cocktail, and James Lileks won’t be sporting his lime-green wardrobe.
But I will be leading a group on an SUV safari along the Rio Grande in South Texas, to get a first-hand look at the reality of the border. This follows successful border tours the last two years in Arizona, where we spoke with ranchers and law enforcement, examined the border terrain and various kinds of fencing up close, visited lay-up spots where illegals hide until nightfall, and more. It’s a (very safe) must-see for anyone concerned about the security of our nation’s borders.
