During his jocular speech on Saturday night at the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner, President Obama teased CNN, MSNBC, and the media in general at various points.
He joked that he respected CNN’s willingness to “cover all sides of the story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate” — in reference to the network’s at-times inaccurate reporting about the Boston Marathon bombings. Of MSNBC, he said, their choice to hire David Axelrod is “a nice change of pace, since MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod.”
He also remarked that, “the press and I have different jobs to do. My job is to be president; [their] job is to keep me humble. Frankly, I think I’m doing my job better.”
