Governor Chris Christie is cruising toward reelection in New Jersey, but that doesn’t mean he’s not preparing for a potential 2016 run.
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Garden Stater will head to Utah in June to meet with Mitt Romney’s donor network:
At the personal invitation of Mitt Romney, Christie will be a featured speaker at a conference of donors and “thought leaders” the former presidential candidate is hosting in Park City, Utah.
The gathering, dubbed “Experts and Enthusiasts,” will bring together bigwigs from the worlds of politics, philanthropy and policy, according to Romney adviser Beth Myers. It will be held June 6-7.
These events don’t get much press, but they’re big in the “invisible primary.” Romney’s circle of friends and benefactors is one of the most sought-after donor groups in Republican politics.
