President Obama reiterated his full support for Attorney General Eric Holder today amid concerns over the Department of Justice’s seizure of AP reporters’ phone records. “I have complete confidence in Eric Holder as attorney general,” Obama said during his joint press conference with Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “He’s an outstanding attorney general, he does his job with integrity, and I expect he will continue to do so,” the president said.
Obama refrained from commenting on the specifics of the issue, but said he would “make no apologies” for investigating potential national-security leaks made to the press. “I don’t think the American people would expect me as commander in chief not to be concerned about information that might compromise their missions or might get them killed,” he explained.
