IRS Chief Admits Progressive Groups Weren't Targeted
Acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller told the House Ways and Means Committee that progressive groups were not targeted by the agency, though he said that the IRS was broadly concerned about political activities by non-profits.
“So, there were no ‘progressive’ or ‘organizing’ buzzwords that were used for targeting?” Paul Ryan asked.
“That is correct,” Miller answered. He said the IRS took “a shortcut” to centralize applicants based on political activity, but that those words were not used.
