Kathleen Sebelius isn’t interested in entering the federal exchange, and she’s not even interested in explaining why to Congress. “Please don’t do this to me,” she said off camera as she was about to be asked directly about entering the exchanges.
After ducking questions from Republican representatives about joining the exchange, Sebelius made the plea while House Energy and Commerce Committee ranking member Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) confronted her directly about it. “I would gladly join the exchange if I didn’t have affordable coverage in my workplace,” Sebelius ultimately responded.
As noted earlier, despite her repeated claims that having an offer of affordable coverage from her employer makes her ineligible for the federal exchange, Sebelius actually can enter the marketplace.
