The Democratic Party has split into two opposing factions. One group is determined to fulfill President Obama’s solemn promise, even at the cost of undercutting his signature achievement. The second group wants to protect the president’s signature achievement, even though that means disregarding his solemn promise. Aligning himself with the “signature achievement” faction, President Obama publicly apologized to anyone who believed he’d actually intended to uphold his solemn promise. When this produced a negative response, the president placated critics by pretending to issue orders upholding his solemn promise. In the meantime, President Obama has solemnly promised that the technical problems plaguing his signature achievement will be resolved by the end of the month.
