It’s true that some critics of the deal have based their opposition on press accounts that appeared before the deal was released. But the press accounts we read in the week or so before the announcement were largely accurate, as far as I can tell. And the deal is being rushed to a vote. I can see why Congressman Ryan might wish that people who think this deal is a bad one would behave in a way that minimized the effectiveness of their opposition. But it’s not a reasonable request.
