Even with a heads-up from Jimmy Fallon, Bruce Springsteen super-fan Chris Christie still couldn’t bring himself to watch the rock star perform a musical sketch about the Bridgegate controversy.
The Late Night host said he reached out to Christie ahead of time before he and Springsteen performing a parody of “Born to Run” about the George Washington Bridge lane closures last week; “Silver lining: Bruce Springsteen will say your name,” Fallon said in a message to Christie. He still hasn’t heard back from the New Jersey governor.
Christie and Fallon have enjoyed a friendly relationship, both on Fallon’s show and over Twitter. According to the New York Times, Christie has stayed away from watching the skit, even though his son told him it was funny.
