A Florida NBC station called the party the “Reprehensive Party of Florida” in a graphic on air this week, and the Republican party of Florida is demanding an on-air apology.
In a story about the state’s gubernatorial race, Miami’s WTVJ played a portion of a GOP ad. In its disclaimer at the top of the screen, the station identified it as a ad from the “Reprehensive Party of Florida.”
“This blatant disregard for journalist ethics and impartiality is a complete abdication of your station’s professional duty to truth at best and slander at worst,” state-party chairman Lenny Curry said in a letter to the station’s president. He asked the station to publicly apologize for the incident and reprimand the employee responsible for it. The party is looking into legal options, Curry said.
