Chatting with Cathy McMorris Rodgers about Women and Politics, Religious Liberty, and the Future of America
Kathryn Jean Lopez
Last night I talked with Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the 200th woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and chair of the House Republican Conference, just outside of the convention center where CPAC is being held at National Harbor in Maryland. McMorris Rodgers, who, as we discuss, has gotten some grief from Stephen Colbert, among others, this week, has always stuck me as a hard-working optimist who feels a call to good civic stewardship. She and her husband make their challenging lives with young children work, as so may parents do around the country, amidst all the challenges families face today. We talked briefly about women in politics, health care, and, of course, the upcoming Hobby Lobby case and religious liberty. You can watch the interview here. Apologies in advance for the head bopping and anything else.
