I read just a little further in the Connecticut court’s opinion and see a reference to the “constitutional rights of gay persons who wish to marry a person of the same sex.” So did the court just give a green light to same-sex marriage only between “gay persons”? No Chuck and Larry? Will Connecticut authorities inquire into the sexual orientation of same-sex applicants for marriage licenses? How will they determine the truth? And will they get equally curious about opposite-sex couples?
None of these is a serious question, but that’s because the opinion isn’t either. To coin a phrase, it is deadly silly.
