In two separate press releases, the White House has announced today five court of appeals nominations—four old and one new. The President has resubmitted the nominations of Peter Keisler to the D.C. Circuit, Debra Livingston to the Second Circuit, Thomas Hardiman to the Third Circuit, and Randy Smith to the Ninth Circuit. The new nomination is that of Leslie Southwick to the Fifth Circuit seat to which Michael Wallace had previously been nominated.
Update: I previously stated in a parenthetical that I thought that Smith was now being nominated to the supposed Idaho vacancy to which William G. Myers III had previously been nominated, rather than to the vacancy, regarded by some as a supposed California seat, to which he had been previously nominated. But I am now reliably informed that Smith is being renominated to the same vacancy as before.
