Today’s Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on two of Bush’s judicial nominees — Dennis Shedd and Michael McConnell. Some see the move as an olive branch from soon-to-be-former Chairman Patrick Leahy. Republicans would like a vote on a third — Miguel Estrada. The committee held hearings on all three, so there’s no procedural reason not to consider him. If Leahy is serious about playing nice, a positive vote on Estrada would be a start.
