uesday
night, in little-noticed remarks at a Denver fundraising dinner for
Sen. Allard and Gov. Bill Owens, President Bush did the Full Monty
on the ABM treaty.
"It's
time to discard the treaties that codified the Cold War," Bush
declared, going a step past his usual, less-blunt "move beyond"
rhetoric.
Someone in
Moscow should be sitting up and taking notice — that is, if Bush
hasn't already told the Russian president the same in person.
Bush continued
his remarks Tuesday night, describing how he told Putin in a meeting:
"You're not our enemy and, therefore, we need to get rid of
the ABM treaty."
"Discard,"
"get rid of" — the State Department must be hating it.
